Gold’s Gym to Open in Downtown Tampa’s Gas Worx

Gold’s Gym to Open in Downtown Tampa’s Gas Worx

Gas Worx developer Darryl Shaw has announced that Gold’s Gym will lease a 25,000-square-foot triangle-shaped warehouse at 802 N 12th St. in downtown Tampa, located directly south of Four Green Fields. Shaw has owned the warehouses since 2016, and Four Green Fields signed a lease for the space in late 2020.

The franchisee behind the Gas Worx location, Tampa resident Kimberlee Curtis, is spearheading the Gold’s Gym project. This is the second fitness concept Shaw has brought to the Ybor City area in 2021, with plans to open a covered pickleball facility in a warehouse along East Second Avenue.

According to a news release, the Gold’s Gym in Gas Worx will feature indoor and outdoor training spaces, specialty equipment rooms, a posing studio, smoothie bar, pro shop, personal training, luxury locker rooms, and an upgraded membership option for the use of a private lounge/co-working space. Kevin Christie, Gold’s Gym vice president of franchising, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that “Downtown Tampa is about to get stronger,” and the franchise has signed development rights to open multiple Gold’s Gym locations within the greater Tampa/St. Pete/Sarasota market.

“We are thrilled to work with Kimberlee and her partners,” Christie added.

Shaw, for his part, is excited to see the impact that Curtis and her team will have on the local community.

“With Kimberlee’s visionary leadership, this gym is more than just a place to workout – it is helping to create a vibrant and inclusive urban community,” he said in a statement. “And it’s not just about fitness; it’s about the health and well-being of the entire community.”
